GCE Advanced Level Exam Grading Method

What is the minimum qualification for Advanced Level in Sri Lanka?

You have to pass the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) test with a minimum of six subjects, which includes
Mathematics, For these six subjects, the minimum mark needed is a “C” pass (or better). You must attain at least a Credit C in six subjects, including English and mathematics.

Sri Lanka Advanced Level pass marks

To receive an A/L grade in a subject:

In that subject, you need to receive at least 40% of the possible marks out of 100.
This level of performance is equivalent to receiving an S (satisfactory) or above grade.
You will obtain an F (Fail) mark for a subject if your score is less than 40%.

Overall Pass Requirements
To be deemed to have “passed” the A/L test in its entirety: You must pass at least three subjects, including your major subjects (the core courses in your chosen field). Universities normally require students to pass all four subjects, which include three major disciplines and an optional general English course.
