Diwali, or the Hindu’s festival of lights, is regarded as the psychosocial festival within Indian and even the whole history. The festival metaphorically depicts the triumph of light over darkness, the triumph of wisdom over ignorance, and in short the victory of good over evil. Following its proper meaning and cultural relevance, Diwali unites families, friends and society to make merry.
This particular article will look at how the festival of Diwali began, the people’s practices during the festival, its significance and why it is observed in a number of regions in the world.
The History of Diwali
According to most Indian festivals, the Diwali ceremony has its origins in ancient Indian customs and traditions, which vary by geography. The return of Lord Rama, his wife Sita together with his brother Lakshman to Ayodhya after 14 years secularized history in India is what Hindus celebrate. After Lord Rama returned with his wife and brother, the citizens of Ayodhya also known as, Ram, Sita and Lakshman lit ‘diaz’ or earthen lamps. There is still this custom to turn on the bulbs and every one of them helps to mask that it is a grim day.
To other people, the day also celebrates the day Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasura and freed everyone from fear.
In Jainism, Diwali is celebrated as the day of liberation of Lord Mahavira, while Guru Hargobind Ji was released from his imprisonment in Sikhism.
