Vehicle Import Gazette Notification

In 31 of January, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his role as Finance Minister, formally lifted the interim ban on car imports into Sri Lanka with an Extraordinary Gazette notice.

Therefore, the temporary ban on the importation of public passenger transport vehicles, special purpose vehicles, commercial or goods transport vehicles, personal usage vehicles, and other non-motorized goods has been lifted by the Extraordinary Gazette, which is titled “Imports and Exports (Control) Regulations No. 02 of 2025.”

The regulation will take effect on February 1st, according to the Gazette notification regarding the importing of vehicles, including motor automobiles.

An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued concerning the importation of vehicles.

This notification, authorized by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, was issued pursuant to the provisions of the Import and Export Control Regulation Act of 1969.
